Halloween isn’t just about costumes, candy, and horror movie marathons; it’s also about scaring yourself silly in real life. And according to USA Today, three New York attractions are so terrifying that they made the list of the Top 20 Haunted Houses in America.

One is right in the heart of New York City, but the other two are just a short drive from Albany, which means you don’t need to go too far outside of the immediate Capital Region to get your screams in this spooky season.

Blood Manor in New York City

This 10,000-square-foot house of horror is so scary that the USA Today says celebrities Kevin Hart and Jimmy Fallon couldn’t handle it!  Designed for those 13 and older, Blood Manor promises big-time frights without crossing the line. The actors only scare; they never touch.

Headless Horseman Hayrides & Haunted Attractions in Ulster Park

Just south of Albany, this 65-acre fright fest reinvents itself every year with monsters, illusions, animatronics, and a hayride that’ll make you think twice about climbing into a wagon after dark. For what it's worth, I've been to the Headless Horseman multiple times, and it's fun as heck!

Pure Terror Scream Park in Monroe

Forty miles north of NYC, this Guinness World Record holder is officially the longest haunted attraction in the nation. With 10 terrifying experiences in one, including crypts, cemeteries, and Hollywood-quality effects, Pure Terror lives up to its name.

You can cast your vote once a day until Monday, September 22nd, at noon, with winners revealed on Wednesday, October 1st, according to USA Today.
