Upstate New York Peds Die on Same Day

A pair of sexual predators, both locked up inside the same Upstate New York prison, were found dead last week, just one hour apart.

At this time, officials have not announced the official cause of death, but it's easy to surmise how the two men perished, considering how pedophiles are often treated in prison by other inmates.

Who Were the Two Men?

Sources say that two inmates locked up for child sex crimes died on the same day at Elmira Correctional Facility in Chemung County, New York, located about three hours southwest of Albany, just south of Ithaca.

The two men were William Brand and Robert Fisher, and both were declared dead at 2:52 a.m. and 1:50 a.m., respectively, on Oct. 22nd.

Fisher, 34, was convicted of drugging, raping, and murdering a 3-year-old girl in July 2023 – and was one month into his 20-years-to-life behind bars, according to WRGB CBS 6.

Brand, 51, who committed his crimes in Franklin County, was arrested back in April for sexual conduct against a child, according to WRGB Albany and state prison records.

Fisher's story, however, hit much more close to home.

According to reports, Fisher was introduced to Laquesha Cunningham, mother of toddler Josefina Cunningham, by a neighbor in Rensselaer County. Sources say that Fisher stole Laquesha's prescription drugs and used them to drug the little girl before he ultimately killed her.

“The defendant took the medication prescribed to Laquesha, crushed it up, and put it in a cup for Josie to drink. He drugged her, went into her bedroom, and raped her,” CBS 6 Albany

Rensselaer Police Chief Reacts to News of Fisher's Death

Many social media comments came from residents who appeared grateful about the news of Fisher's death, and the Rensselaer Police Chief, Warren Famiglietti, took to Facebook to acknowledge that he'd seen them too.

“On behalf of the Rensselaer Police Department, I would like to announce the death of admitted Child Murderer, Rapist, and Predator Robert Fisher. I already see comments online expressing joy and relief from the news of his death,” Famiglietti said.

“It appears that justice was ultimately served by a power much greater,” the police chief added.
