Tough break for Capital Region native Justin Brantley:

Brantley was 1-0 this season in Akron with a 7.47 ERA. The Hudson native and Siena product was 10-6 in his career with the Indians organization, pitching to a stellar 2.91 ERA, even including this years inflated numbers. He went 5-6 out of the bullpen last year in Lynchburg with a 2.84 ERA.

He is the cousin of the Indians' all-star outfielder Michael Brantley.

On his personal facebook page, Brantley gave thanks to the Indians organization and said he would not stop until he reaches his goal of playing Major League Baseball.

We wish Brantley the best. He is one of several Capital Region natives playing in professional baseball. Tommy Kahnle (Shaker/White Sox), Jeff Hoffman (Shaker/Rockies), Jaime Schultz (Maple Hill/Rays), Will Remillard (LaSalle/Cubs), JP Sportman (LaSalle/A's), Branden Cogswell (Shen/A's), Garrett Whitley (Niskayuna/Rays), and Matt Gage (Broadalbin-Perth/Giants) are all working toward the Majors.
