Whoops!  ESPN analyst Steve Young made a funny mistake following the New England Patriots 42-14 win over the Houston Texans.

The New England Patriots smacked around the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football to the tune of 42-14.  The ESPN Monday Night Countdown crew was reacting to the four-touchdown beatdown.  Steve Young made a terrific point and then accidentally goofed up.

Steve Young mentioned that we basically shouldn’t pencil the Patriots in the Super Bowl following their impressive win, nor count the Texans out because of their embarrassing loss.  He referred to the New York Jets getting thumped by the Patriots 45-3 on Monday Night Football in 2010.  The game was on Dec. 6 (very similar to the Texans-Patriots game on Dec. 10).  The Jets went back to Gillette Stadium and beat the Patriots 28-21 in the NFL Playoffs on Jan. 16.

It was a great point by Steve Young.  He followed up the solid point by saying, “This is the NBA.”  Hilarious!  Look, we all say things that we don’t intend to say from time to time.  We’ve all had a, “I said what?” moment.  This flub was simply funny because Young made such a great point before his mistake.  You can also see Suzy Kolber smiling after Young goofed.  Funny stuff.

Listen to the New York Jets take on the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football at 8:30pm.  Pregame coverage begins at 7:30pm ET on 104.5 The Team, ESPN Radio.  You might want to check out the Monday Night Countdown crew following the game.  Steve Young might make a great point and then say, “Look, guys.  This is the NBA.”
