The Stanley Cup Finals begin Wednesday night in Chicago when the Blackhawks face the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the NHL's championship series. If Chicago loses, its fans may storm the offices of the city of nearby Park Ridge, Ill. in protest because the suburb's leaders obviously don't understand NHL playoff superstitions.

The Bruins and Blackhawks, two Original 6 teams, meet for the right to raise Lord Stanley.  Boston is 9-1 in the postseason since toppling Toronto in overtime of Game 7 in the opening round.  Chicago is 7-1 since being down 3-1 to rival Detroit and beat last year's Cup champion Kings in the Western Conference Finals...

It's an Original 6 Stanley Cup Finals, the first since 1979 and the first finals since 1972 between American Original 6 teams.  Bruins and Blackhawks.  Here is a preview of the series that will eventually end in one of these teams hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup, the most coveted trophy in team sports.

The Chicago Blackhawks, 2010 Stanley Cup winners, beat the 2012 Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings in double-overtime, 4-3, in Game 5, thanks to a goal by Patrick Kane.

The task facing the Pittsburgh Penguins is not unlike the deficit the LA Kings were facing going into game 3 of the eastern conference finals-with 1 exception. A HUGE exception. The Kings played game 3 at home, and home is where they have done their best work so far in the playoffs...

The Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010.  The Kings raised Lord Stanley in 2012 as the first 8-seed to do so.  Now, these two teams will face-off in the Western Conference Finals for the right to play for the Cup again.  Here is a series preview.

Oh those feisty Detroit Red Wings. Paying little mind to the prognosticators who looked at the Red Wings as a mere bump in the road (I raise my hand), Detroit used a solid goaltending effort from Jimmy Howard to defeat the heavily favored Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 and grab a 2-1 lead in the best of 7 Western Conference semi finals...
