After years and years of the New York Yankees handing out some of the biggest contracts in all of sports and all the massive endorsements you see New York stars getting it odd there isn't more New York talent on Forbes' latest list. Forbes just released "The World's Ten Highest-Paid Athletes" and only ONE member of the New York sports scene has made the list.

Recently Conor McGregor joined Jon "Bones" Jones and Jorge Masvidal by "retiring" from the UFC. No one I know believes that any of the three superstar fighters have any intention of actually retiring but McGregor is known for retiring and then returning. This would be his third time retiring from the UFC. In a recent interview with TMZ, Ali Abdelaziz may have lit the spark that sees Conor return and could have possibly angered UFC president Dana White.

The UFC was the first live sport to return to the United States with UFC 249 last Saturday and they have a Fight Night tonight on ESPN. Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon this weekend

If there was ever an athlete that may need to get back to his sport it has to be UFC/MMA star Conor McGregor. McGregor has had nothing but trouble since his last UFC fight, well to be honest he was no stranger to trouble when he was fighting but it seems to be far worse now that he has free time on his fists. The latest run in with the law has been reported by TMZ Sports. Apparently McGregor "sucker punched" an older man over a free shot of his Proper 12 Whiskey.

Conor McGregor has gone from an unknown plumber in Ireland to one of the most popular athletes in the world in about a decade. McGregor's skill in the Octagon and brash over the top personality rocketed him to the top of the Mixed Martial Arts world but that appears to be over. Just hours after saying he would fight in the UFC this July McGregor Tweeted out he's retiring from MMA.

The press coming out of UFC 229 has primarily been about the main event. Conor McGregor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov via rear naked choked but that was only the beginning of that story as Nurmagomedov jumped out of the cage and attacked McGregor's trainers and McGregor himself was sucker punched by someone from Nurmagomedov's camp. So the question is what else did we all miss or forget while we were picking our collective jaws up off the floor?

After nearly a two year absence, Conor McGregor returns to the octagon this weekend.

On Saturday, October 6th for the first time since November of 2016 Conor McGregor will fight in the Octagon. Waiting for McGregor is the undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. This a fight that fans have been waiting for and if you believe the bluster from the press conference above so have both fighters.

If you're a fan of the UFC you've been waiting for the return of "The Notorious One" Conor McGregor. It's been almost two years since McGregor fought in the Octagon and the man waiting for him may be just as bad as he is. Khabib Nurmagomedoz and McGregor will headline UFC 229 on October 6th at the T-Mobil Arena in Las Vegas.
