The running story of this MLB season has been the injuries that have plagued the New York Yankees. Now that the replacement players we've lovingly called the "B-Team", "Baby Bombers", "Scranton Yankees" and a number of other names have played great baseball, what happens when the "A-Team" returns? ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney says returning stars could pose a tough problem for Yankees Manager Aaron Boone.
Forbes has released their list of "The World's Highest Paid Athletes" and you might be shocked who's the highest paid New York Athlete. The list is dominated by soccer and NBA stars but there are certainly plenty of MLB and NFL stars on the list. I was a little surprised how low the New York athletes were on the list and more shocked when I saw the man they listed highest.
Stop me if you've heard this one before, the New York Yankees add an impact player to the Injury List. It seems the second there's even a little bit of good news for the Yankees when it comes to injuries there's bad news that comes with it. As soon as the Yankees get catcher Gary Sanchez back they lose outfielder Clint Frazier to the 10 day IL.
To say the New York Yankees' season has not started according to plan might be one of the biggest understatements so far this MLB season. Not only is CC Sabathia, Luis Severino and Delin Betances currently missing time due to injury but now Outfielder and DH Giancarlo Stanton is being added to the 10 day DL.
Every year the New York Yankees come up with a new and fun way to showcase their personalities and get us all hyped for the season. This year they had some fun with the angle of "Planting one". You know like John Sterling's Brett Gardner home run call "Gardner plants one" and "Gardy goes yardy."
The Yankees position player roster is most likely set heading into this season so I decided to make a generic lineup that would be ideal if we were looking at offense ability only.
Some players come to the New York Yankees and never seem to find their former stardom. Giancarlo Stanton is the reigning National League MVP and do to a financial purge on the Miami Marlins he finds himself in the Bronx on a team full of stars and with a fan base that has not been patient with him. Stanton has been way better on the road than at home and for that the Yankee fans have boo'd him. Tonight he had a defining moment that will silence those boos...at least for a little while.
The New York Yankees have welcomed the National League MVP to the Bronx today. Stanton lead the majors in Home Runs and RBI's. He will add his powerful bat to an already potent line up that was already one game away from the World Series without him.
I enjoy the MLB All star break. I watch the game and I always watch the Home run Derby. That being said I can't remember the last time I was this excited for the Derby. First off two Yankees have a chance to win this thing, Catcher Gary Sanchez and Outfielder Aaron Judge will both be swinging for the fences in Miami...
