It is an age-old story in New York. When the iconic Yankees are good, they rule the region. In fact, it was 65 years years ago that the Bronx Bombers' National League neighbors, the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers abandoned their fanbases and moved across the country. Many believed the move was primarily done to get away from the powerful lure of the team in pinstripes. Many decades later and billions of dollars ready to spend, Mets owner Steve Cohen is at least trying to put up a fight for his Queens franchise.

The New York Mets wasted no time in replacing Jacob deGrom, in fact the addition of Justin Verlander might even be an upgrade.

In between innings at Yankee Stadium this weekend, a New York fan decided to test Justin Verlander's skills in "Rock, Paper Scissors", and it did not go well.

The colors and the name across the chest were new. The long blonde hair on the 6' 6" frame was all too familiar. Former New York Mets right-handed pitcher, Noah Syndergaard threw his first regular season pitches for his new team on Saturday. He wore number 34, like he did with the Mets. However, an Angels player had not worn that number in 13 years, exactly.

Last night against the Angels, Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning. But in that 9th inning, you saw the true meaning of baseball as a "game of inches," when Verlander lost his no-hitter courtesy of a Chris Iannetta double...

Every week I run my mouth about what's happening in sports. This week Wes Welker may be on drugs, Verlander in the Fappening and the demise of my beloved Yankees.  

Pitchers in their prime or when they first come up gather crowds to stadiums and increase ratings on television sets like no tomorrow.  Think Dwight Gooden, Felix Hernandez, Fernando Valenzuela, Johan Santana, Roy Halladay, Justin Verlander, Stephen Strasburg.  Add Matt Harvey to the list.

There are so many good, young talented pitchers in Major League Baseball these days.  Justin Verlander just signed a big deal to stay in Detroit and is considered by many to be the best in baseball right now.  But over the next five years, is it still Verlander...

There is plenty to choose from this weekend.  This is one of the best and busiest times on the sports calendar.  And you generally get that way when seasons change.  So, here you have it.   Choice one:  Duh.  Final Four in Atlanta...

Tonight is Game Three of the American League Championship Series, as the Yankees visit Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers. The Yankees have failed to live up to their moniker as the "Bronx Bombers" throughout the entire postseason. Who do you think is the most vital Yankee hitter in their lineup for tonight's game...

The Yankees (11-8) beat the Tigers (10-10) 7-6 in a back and forth game that came down to a wild ninth inning Friday night at Yankee Stadium.  Both starters Ivan Nova and Justin Verlander did not look like their usual selves each having their worst outings of the year...

It's a commercial that's sports related and features Kate Upton.  Count me in.
