It was a weird Saturday night in early July: Derek Jeter had just reached 3,000 career hits that afternoon, the Mets didn't start playing until 9pm because they were at San Francisco and I didn't feel like watching the end of the NASCAR race in Kentucky. So I decided to give boxing a chance, and once again, I walked away disappointed.

Last week, the Speaker of the Assembly made remarks to the media that supposedly killed the proposal to legalize MMA in the state of New York. But earlier today, a small group of politicians told Sheldon Silver "not so fast."

When you were a kid, did you ever have an older brother or sister wave a cookie in front of you? Do you remember what usually happened 5 seconds later: they would eat it right in front of you. Well once again, MMA fans in New York State have been deceived by their elected officials.
