New Teams Travel To Troy To Take On The ValleyCats This Summer
The Tri City ValleyCats open up their 2022 Frontier League season on the road Thursday against the Florence Y'Alls. The Y'Alls are from Kentucky and one of 8 new teams, for a total of 16, that will travel to Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy this summer. The Frontier League is one of the premier independent professional baseball leagues and is a partner with Major League Baseball.

The news that Capital Region baseball fans have been dreading came yesterday when Major League Baseball's list of 120 minor league teams that would be invited to be affiliated with the MLB was published by Baseball America. That's when we all found out the Tri-City Valley Cats weren't on the list. What makes matters worse is that's when Valley Cats' team President and the rest of the organization found out they were left off the list too.

With the MLB saying it wouldn't be sending players to the minor leagues this year there wasn't much choice left for the Tri-City Valley Cats other than to cancel their season.
