The 2016 season didn't end with a trip to the FCS playoffs, but the University at Albany football program is ahead of schedule under third year head coach, Greg Gattuso. The Great Danes finished the year with a 7-4 record, which is a four game turnaround from Albany's three wins a season ago. If you had told fans of UAlbany football prior to the season that the team would finish the year with seven wins and go .500 in conference play, I think that would be a scenario they'd all sign up for. Gattuso has a valid argument that his team belongs in the postseason, but it's only a matter of time before this UAlbany program not only makes the FCS playoffs, but does so on a consistent basis.
