We are just over two months away from the opening of the Tri-City ValleyCats season (June 17th at 'The Joe'). But before the 'Cats can put a team on the field, they have to make a difference in the community. They accomplished that this week through the annual '4 in 24' program.

The ValleyCats staff took to four separate fields around the Capital Region and helped to renovate them. They were in Guilderland, Schenectady, Mechanicville and Nassau.

We heard about the program from 'Cats general manager Matt Callahan, who joined us on Friday. We also talked about the excitement surrounding the upcoming season at 'The Joe.'

Finally, several former ValleyCats are making a splash in the Major Leagues... Jose Altuve won the AL Batting title in 2014 and won the AL Stolen Base crown that year. Dallas Keuchel won the AL Cy Young last season and Ben Zobrist won a World Series last year as a member of the Royals.

We asked Callahan how gratifying that is.
