The St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 12-6 in game 6 of the NLCS to win the NL pennant and will face the Texas Rangers in the World Series.

The Cardinals put on an offensive show led by the NLCS MVP David Freese, who hit a big 3-run home run in the 1st inning. Going into game 6, Freese was 9-18 with 6 RBI and 2 home runs in the NLCS. In game 6 he went 3-4 with 3 runs scored, 3 RBI, and a home run.

If it was his last game at home, Prince Fielder had a very quiet last game going 0-4. Fielder in the last year of his contract let it be known weeks ago that it would be the likely end of him in a Milwaukee uniform. In the NLCS going into game 6 Fielder was 4-16 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI.

The Cardinals will now take on the Texas Rangers in the 2011 World Series, with game 1 beginning on Wednesday. The Rangers are coming off of a 15-5 game 6 victory over the Detroit Tigers. The Rangers are certainly not short of offense. They will be looking to throw up a large number of runs. The Cardinals have been able to tame some tough offensive-led clubs, so it'll be an interesting match for the title.
