The Mets may suck, but at least Mets fans have something to root for. R.A. Dickey won his 20th game today, giving him a legitimate shot to become the first Mets pitcher to win the Cy Young award since Dwight Gooden.

Dickey struck out 13 Pittsburgh Pirates in 7.2 innings, giving up three runs in the win. And I’ll tell you this, the Pittsburgh Pirates may be even worse then we are! There now under.500 for the 20th consecutive year.

Dickey is now tied for the league lead in wins, second in ERA and first in strike outs. I don’t want to hear anything about his X-FIP or his WAR or any of that sabermetric nonsense, those are Cy Young numbers! Honestly, I think Gio Gonzalez will get more votes, but  its great to see one good thing from this wretched, pathetic, miserable club.
