Albany High Class of 2017  graduate Eileen Bequette topped off a strong Freshman year at University of Rochester with a strong performance in the Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

According to the University of Rochester website:

"Buquette had an impressive first year on the track for the Yellowjackets claiming first team All-Liberty League honors. In addition Bequette was voted by the Coaches as Liberty League Rookie of the Year. Bequette was the pentathlon winner at the Liberty League championships in February, winning four separate events and earned a spot to compete at the Division III National Championships in Alabama. She came in ninth place at nationals, just one spot shy of All-American."

Bequette is another example of the fantastic athletes from right here in the Capital Region and another example that local athletes go on to excel in college athletics in sports that sometimes don't get as much press. Great job, Eileen. The Capital Region is proud of you for all your hard work!
