Then next week, the start of unrestricted free agency begins on July 13th. This next week is one of the most fun of the entire NHL calendar year.

The NHL surprised fans by releasing their 2022-2023 regular season schedule. The Buffalo Sabres just posted their full schedule on their social media platforms.

The Sabres will open up the season at home on Thursday, October 13th against the Ottawa Senators. The next game will also be at home -- an afternoon affair on Saturday, October 15th against the Florida Panthers.

The team will then go on a very early western Canada road trip, against the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks.

One interesting thing to note is there will only be one home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which will be on February 21st.

Former Sabres captain Jack Eichel will return for the second time on November 10th and that should be the hottest ticket during the season. Other than Rick Jeanneret's ceremony night, the Vegas Golden Knights game with Eichel's return was the best night of the season in 2021-2022.

The annual Thanksgiving eve game at home will continue, as the Sabres will host the St. Louis Blues. They will also host the New Jersey Devils on Black Friday at 7:30 pm.

The Sabres will close out the regular season like they did to open it, with a home game against Ottawa.
