Whitney winner Cross Traffic has pulled out of this weekend's Grade 1 Woodward ($750,000).

Trainer Todd Pletcher gave this reason to the Times Union:  “No, we’re waiting on the Jockey Club (Gold Cup)."  “I got some reactions, and we felt this is a better way to get to the Breeders’ Cup.”

Saratoga Race Course all-time jockey winner John Velazquez was going to be aboard Cross Traffic but now will ride Alpha.  Joel Rosario, who is out six weeks with a broken foot, rode Alpha in the Whitney.
