The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was racing under the lights Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway at the Irwin Tools Night Race. The race saw Denny Hamlin take the checkered flag. It was Hamlin's third victory of the season.

Hamilin would battle it out with Carl Edwards with less than 40 laps left and never look back for the eventual victory. Jimmie Johnson would take 2nd and clinched a berth in the chase for the cup, followed by JJ's teammate Jeff Gordon. Brian Vickers would have an impressive run for 4th and Marcos Ambrose would have yet another good run as he rounded out the top 5.

The race saw 13 caution flags with a number of wrecks including a wreck between Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth that saw Stewart throw his helmet at Kenseth's car in pit road. Both were battling for the lead when the crash occured.

Much like Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Greg Biffle who finished 12th and 19th respectively, also clinched playoff berths.
