Denny Hamlin took the Checkered Flag at the Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday.

After all the calamity that occured at the Daytona 500, this race was much quieter as far as accidents were concerned. Clint Bowyer had trouble early blowing the same left front tire twice within a few laps. Casey Mears spun out and crashed at lap 110 and Paul Menard caused a caution at lap 132 with a crash that also involved AJ Almendinger and Jamie McMurray.

Tony Stewart would also end up having trouble while during a caution due to a blown engine on  David Reutimann's car, while trying to conserve fuel Stewart shut of his ignition and it wouldn't kick back. This incident caused "Smoke" to lose a few laps.

The race would see a number of drivers lead a number of laps including Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. Harvick would make a run in the final few laps and almost looked like he would take the lead and the win over Hamlin, but Harvick would run out of gas in the final lap.

Hamlin now leads the points as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series head Las Vegas next Sunday.
