Buffalo Bills Place Three Players On Active/PUP Injured List
The Buffalo Bills are all accounted for and present at training camp, as they are about to embark on another season.
The first practice from St. John Fisher University is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
The big story at the start of the week is the jet ski injury to running back Nyheim Hines, who will have surgery on an injured knee and is expected to miss the entire 2023 season. Hines was going to be the main kick and punt returner.
The Bills are mostly healthy but did make three moves today, in regards to some players who are not quite 100 percent just yet.
The Bills announced on Tuesday afternoon that they have placed edge rusher Von Miller, linebacker/special teamer Tyler Matakevich and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips all on the active PUP list (physically unable to perform).
This means all three players can not practice yet but because this is the active PUP list, they can come off the PUP list at any point in camp.
We knew about Miller not being quite ready yet. The future Hall of Famer had ACL surgery in early December, which means he is approaching the 8-month mark of his recovery timeline. 9-12 months is typically the timeline for ACL injuries in professional athletes.
We still don't know yet if Miller will be ready in time for week 1. If he's not, the Bills can place him on the standard PUP list, which means he misses the first six weeks of the season, but frees up a roster spot.
It feels like Miller will be ready in time, however.
