Buffalo Bills Lineman Dion Dawkins Tries To Buy A Plane From Spirit Airlines
NFL players who have been in the league normally make a decent amount of money. But is it enough to buy a plane from an airline?
Spirit Airlines went under over the weekend and stopped operations immediately. It was so immediate that some passengers were left stranded thousands of miles from home with no way to get there. So what happens to the planes now?
Dion Dawkins is asking if he can buy one of the planes
Everyone spends their money differently. Some people who have a lot of money like to spend it on convenience. Is there anything more convenient than having a commercial jet that you can fly anywhere at anytime?
Dion Dawkins is hoping that maybe he could get a plane that is big enough to take the entire team with him when he goes on vacation. Today, he took to X to see if Spirit Airlines would sell him one of their planes now that they won't be needing them.
We know that Dion is a big fan of the sport of drifting in cars, but as far as we know, he's not a pilot.
Could Dion afford a commercial jet?
Let's just say they have some planes for sale. Could he actually buy one? How much do they cost to buy? That's not something you see on Facebook Marketplace all that often.
We looked it up. According to Epic Flight Academy, they cost tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.
- Boeing 737-700: $89 million
- Boeing 737-800: $106 million
- Boeing 737 Max8: $121 million
- Boeing 787 Dreamliner: $230 million
But those are brand new prices, and maybe they have something a little smaller to fit his budget.
We don't know how much money he has in the bank. According to Spotrac, over the span of his career, just his NFL money has paid him $86,390,692. That doesn't include any endorsements or appearances that he's been paid for. So he could be worth a bit more than that. But even if the plane he wanted was half price because it was used, it would take up a huge chunk of his NFL Earnings.
We're rooting for him, though. Can you imagine how much fun it would be to fly on a jet that was owned by the Schnowman??
