The Captain Derek Jeter would get the Yankees on the board first in the top of the 1st with his 8th Home Run of the season. The Mariners would get that run back in the bottom of the inning as Ivan Nova struggled loading the bases then walking Kyle Seager to bring in a run. Seattle would take the lead after Mike Carp grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Jesus Montero. Both Nova and his opponent Hisashi Iwakuma would pitch scoreless baseball after the first inning. The Mariners wouldn't get another hit.

The Yankees bats would be relatively quiet till the 8th inning when they would  load the bases and then be cleared thanks to a double by Jason Nix. Nix would end up scoring thanks to an RBI from Russell Martin. They would bat around in the inning sending up all nine batters.

David Robertson and Rafael Soriano would do their job in the 8th and 9th to help the Yankees win the game and take the three game series.

The Yankees will have Thursday off as they head back to the Bronx to start a 3 game series with the rival Boston Red Sox on Friday. Phil Hughes will take the mound for the Bombers up against Aaron Cook. Check out all the action on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio. Pregame on Friday is 6:30, First pitch at 7:05.
