For NFL junkies like myself, the NFL Draft is an amazing weekend of hope as you see what young talent will be joining your favorite team.

In recent years, the Draft has grown from simply teams selecting what they hope will be future stars to an all-out event where the NFL brings its fans by the thousands to a host city. The hope lives on but the event is no more. The NFL will hold the draft but it has canceled all live events surrounding it.

The NFL will still hold the draft from April 23 to the 25 but it will be without fans in attendance.  In a statement, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said "This decision reflects our foremost priority, the health and safety of all fans and citizens. While this outcome is disappointing both to the NFL and to the Las Vegas community, we look forward to partnering with the Raiders, the City of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for a future NFL Draft as well as evaluating opportunities for other major NFL events in Las Vegas in the future, including the Super Bowl."

The league said it plans on finding innovative ways to share the Draft. I'm extremely hopeful we will still be able to host our annual party at Katie O' Byrne's in Schenectady. Only time will tell if that's even possible.
