Just a few days after visiting his home town Atlanta Falcons, Osi Umenyiora is now officially a former New York Giant.

The Falcs announced they have added another bird to their dirty bird defense, signing the former standout defensive lineman of the NYG to a 2 year deal for roughly 8.5 million dollars. If Osi hits certain bonus's in the new deal he can grab about 4 million more. the new contract has a 5 million dollar signing bonus.

Umenyiora has squabbled with the Giants  several times when it come to a contract but he served the Giants well. he holds the single game sack mark by a Giant and in Giant land that is huge considering some of the great defensive players the Giants have had over their long and storied history. Players like Sam Huff, Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks, Leonard Marshall, and Michael Strahan and so many more. Umenyiora recorded 6 sacks in a game vs arch enemy Philadelphia back in 2007.

The entire Giant defensive line struggled in 2011. Umenyiora had his finest season in 2010 when he forced an NFL record 10 fumbles in addition to his sack and pressure numbers.

Atlanta has been busy busy this off season as they try and gear up for another run to the Super Bowl..Tight end Tony Gonzalez backed off his retirement plans. The Falcs cut loose 2 aging veterans in running back Michael Turner and defensive lineman John Abraham. They signed Steven Jackson to replace Turner and now Umenyiora returns to his hometown to replace Abraham.
