While I respect why RPI decided to pull the plug on its college hockey season, it’s decision does come with consequences. Owen Savory, RPI’s top goaltender, is transferring to UMass-Lowell because he needs to play and if nothing else, he needs to practice. He can’t do either at RPI. Remember, cancelling college hockey seasons is not a blanket move across the country. There are plenty of schools and conferences that are going to grind through it, and I respect that decision too. When you cancel an entire season, you’re going to lose good players, and it puts coaches like Dave Smith in a very tough spot, especially when Smith has done a great job turning around the program.

What did Dave Smith have to say about Owen leaving the program? Listen below!
