It must be something about pitching against the New York Yankees. Ian Anderson could not have been much better on Wednesday when he tossed 6 2/3rd of shutout innings in the Bronx. It was by far his best start of the season, and it came with his good friend Kevin Huerter putting up double-digit numbers 30 miles down the road against the New York Knicks at MSG. It capped off an unprecedented Wednesday, when two former Shenendehowa standouts were on center stage on the same night in New York. And both turned in very impressive performances.

We discuss the unprecedented night for the Capital Region last night above and there is must listen shout outs by Huerter and Anderson that we play back from an interview they did in Atlanta. Some of the highlights are spelled out below:

  • It will be hard to see this happen again because the stars absolutely aligned for Anderson to be pitching in New York the same day that the Hawks played a basketball game in New York. Will it happen again? I guess time will tell.
  • Huerter and Anderson talked about picking their respective sports and they shared a memory of winning their state championship. There also was a memory shared from the younger days when they lost the championship at Cooperstown Dreams Park to a team from Georgia ironically enough.
  • Ian gave a scouting report on Huerter's baseball game and said he could hit a fastball and field just about anything. As for Anderson's basketball game? He says he simply couldn't stop anyone defensively.
