We're yet another step closer to "normal" now that the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its schedule outline for the 2020-21 men’s and women’s basketball season. We still don't know exactly who or when the men's and women's Saints teams will be playing but with this schedule outline we can finally start to get excited about them actually playing basketball this year.

In a press release for the MAAC and another from Siena College, we get a clear look at the format for the planned season.

From the Siena press release:

"The MAAC Presidents, Athletic Directors, and Senior Woman's Administrators were all instrumental in creating this model," said Siena College Vice President and Director of Athletics John D'Argenio, who also serves as the MAAC Men’s Basketball Committee Chair. "Our guiding principles were putting the health of our student athletes and coaches first, and making the MAAC regular season and postseason schedules a priority. I believe that the group developed a strong scheduling model which spaces league games throughout the season, which gives us the flexibility to make adjustments during the season should any of our teams be faced with an interruption in play."

After speaking to Siena men's basketball coach many times it's always been the goal of Siena and the MAAC to find a safe way to get back out on the court. This is exciting for basketball fans here in the Capital Region. We finally have a vision of how the season will look. Still not sure if there will be fans in attendance but thankfully the Saints will get a chance to win another regular-season MAAC title and hopefully go on to win their way into the NCAA tournament.
