Last night I attended a screening of the New Pirates of Caribbean “On Stranger Tides”. The Movie had it’s moments but all and all I…

See I left you hanging there. The real story behind the Disney 3D mess is a hastily tossed together story with no real basis in reality. I know before you get all nerd on me that none of these movies are based in any kind of reality, I just meant in a reality were people still think this same basic story line is good.

The only good thing about this movie is they trimmed the fat from the cast Dropping the Debby downers from the first 3 films ( Bloom and Knightly) of the face of the earth. The story is full of call backs to the first 3 films so if you haven’t seen them I suggest you bone up on your pirate lingo before shelling out big bucks to see Johnny Depp in 3D, and Drunk.

Speaking of the 3D, it wasn’t needed.  The HD quality of the first 3 films was one of the big reasons I went back for the fourth, but with the 3d effect on I felt my self squinting and getting a head ache after  the 90 minute mark. I find that the 3D gimmick is getting old. It is fine for movies like Tron  or Avatar where the 3D is part of movie. But with Pirates I felt as if the 3D was just jammed in there to get a higher box office.

All in all its not a bad movie in 2D if you have to bring your girl or wife to it, but as far as a master piece that you want to enjoy for your self I would pass. This movie gets a solid C maybe even a C-.
