Tony Stewart Named Driver Of The Year
This year's NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart was been named Martini and Rossi Driver Of The Year earlier today. The Award is voted on by a panel of media members including journalists and broadcasters. This is Tony's second Driver Of The Year Award, the first coming in 2005 when he won his second NASCAR title.
The Driver of the Year award is the oldest of it's kind that goes back 45 years and isn't relegated to just NASCAR. Any driver competing in a series based in the U.S or a driver from the U.S. competing overseas is eligible as long as the vehicles are the four wheeled variety. Indy Car, NHRA, CART, F-1 are eligible as well.
Stewart won this years Sprint Cup title in dramatic fashion, winning 5 of the 10 chase races including the final race in Homestead-Miami to seal the championship.
