RODGER'S QUICK TAKE: If the Kentucky Derby can have fans and if Monmouth Park in New Jersey is allowing fans, why can’t Saratoga? Governor Cuomo needs to take a good hard look at the Saratoga racing season, and give NYRA clearance to allow a limited number of fans onto the ground at some point during the 40 day meet which begins July 16th. You can easily adhere to self-distancing protocol rules on the large grounds at Saratoga Race Course. I have no idea what the number would be, but any number of fans is better than none. If the Kentucky Derby needs fans, so does the Travers Stakes. And this year they will be run on back to back weekends. If nothing else, make an exception for the Mid-Summer Derby to be held with fans. You can do it safely.
