Yankees Hope Returning Star Won’t Have A ‘Cool Hand’
The New York Yankees have seemingly turned around a season that got off to a pretty awful start after going 7 - 2 in their last homestand. The Yankees haven't lost a series since they were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-game series from April 16th - 18th. So even though things have been good it'll be a major boost if First Baseman Luke Voit comes in hot tonight in his return from the Injured List when the Yankees begin a three-game midweek series in Tampa versus those same Rays.
Voit returns to a lineup that has been better but has an obvious hole at first base. If Voit can return with the kind of production that made him the home run king of the shortened 2020 MLB season and had him lighting it up in Triple-A Scranton Wilke-Barre maybe the Yankees can finally beat up on the Rays. The Rays have owned the Yankees recently, taking eight out of ten and knocking the Yanks out of the postseason last year while already taking five of six matchups this season.
According to the New York Post Luke Voit is one of the few Yankees to have success against the Rays' pitching staff:
Voit has historically pounded Rays’ pitching, with a 1.010 OPS in 118 regular-season plate appearances. And even at Tropicana Field, a tough place to hit, Voit has a career .906 OPS.
So yeah I started with a cheesy dad joke a title but I'm excited to see LUUUUUKKKKKKEEEEEE back in the lineup tonight and hopefully, he helps keep the Yankees winning ways going. I mean look at what he's been doing for the Rail Riders!
