The New York Yankees were going to have a tough decision to make. One that they would have been just fine to have to make because it is a tremendous problem to have for a plethora of reasons. But yesterday, Deivi Garcia made that choice for Aaron Boone in his outing versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Garcia was roughed up allowing HR's to Bo Bichette and Teoscar Hernandez and only pitched 3 innings. With Domingo German passing the eye test so far (oh by the way he has yet to give up a run this spring) and Jordan Montgomery pitching to a 0.90 ERA and a 0.70 WHIP, Garcia pitched himself all the way to the alternate site in Scranton.

On another note over on the Atlanta Braves beat, Ian Anderson finds himself possibly as the 4th starter. That is not a knock on Ian, although he wasn't his sharpest against the Pirates yesterday in his final spring start. The simple fact is Max Fried, Charlie Morton and Mike Soroka are all so good that they currently rank ahead of Anderson in the rotation. Even though he allowed 4 runs and 7 hit in his start against Pittsburgh and only struck out 1 batter, he did still get 8 swing and misses on his changeup which still suggests the pitch is fooling major league batters. That will be key to his continued success and you hope there could be some improvements on the curveball too.
