It took a few outings, but Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield was finally able to get his 200th career win in Boston's 18-6 thrashing of Toronto.

The last 7 times that Tim Wakefield took the mound he was hoping for a win.  If he got that win, it would of gave him 200 career wins.  That one win plagued him for weeks, but finally last night he was able to get the monkey off his back thanks to some stellar offense by his Red Sox teammates.

Wakefield would give up 5 runs to Toronto early, so already he must have been thinking that #200 was still out of his reach.  Then the Boston bats came to life to give Wakefield the lead before he would exit the game after 6 innings.  The Red Sox bullpen would preserve that lead, giving Wakefield the win and the career milestone.

I'm very grateful that I've been able to wear this uniform for as long as I have and reached a milestone that I thought I'd never reach.

That win also puts a little bit more distance between Boston and Tampa Bay for the MLB wild card.  The Red Sox are ahead of the Rays by 4 games now.
