Oh the parade of disappointment that has worn the blue and orange at Shea Stadium and Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Jason Bay, Vince Coleman, Brett Saberhagen, Carlos Baerga, Robbie Alomar, Jr., a Hall of Famer no less, and a healthy list of other baseball superstars that came to the New York Mets and stunk. You wonder why Mets fans are booing their newest $341 million dollar man? They have a track record of All Stars that have come to Queens and fallen apart. They are sick of it.

The Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants and the New York Yankees were once the Major League franchises that called the Big Apple home. In 1957, much to the dismay of their fans, including many members of my family (I'm old but wasn't around yet), the Giants and the Dodgers headed to the left coast and the National League fans in New York were left devastated. A choice of rooting for the Yankees, for many, was not an option.

The New York Mets finally licked their wounds by sweeping the Washington Nationals in three games, right after getting swept out of first place by the Philadelphia Phillies. However, there isn't time to celebrate as the red hot Los Angelas Dodgers come to town to begin a brutal 13 game stretch for the Metropolitans against the top two teams in the National League West.

The New York Mets completed a 7 game road trip by losing to the Philadelphia Phillies 3-0 on Sunday. In case you missed it, the loss was just a sour cherry on a terrible cake. Former Met Zach Wheeler put all of the nails in the Amazin's coffin completing the 3 game sweep with a 2 hit shutout. Philadelphia not only took over first place from the Mets, it looked like they knocked over their books and took New York's lunch money. The Mets finished the road trip 1-6 and are now in third place, after starting Friday in first. Bad news? Yes. End of the season? Not so fast...

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. The New York Mets precarious lead in the National League East is down to 1/2 game over the Philadelphia Phillies. And guess where the Mets travel to for a Friday match-up? Yup, you guessed it, Philadelphia.

It's official: the New York Mets and Kumar Rocker are no longer a couple. But why?

As Mets fans held their breath for the last few weeks, wondering how new owner Steve Cohen would flash his wallet and buy the Amazin's some much needed pitching help, especially hours after finding out that Superman Jacob deGrom would be sidelined until September, that news never materialized. The Mets made a trade but was it really for a player that they needed or did they just need to make a trade?

Unfortunately, Eickhoff says a lot about the Mets organizational pitching depth. Thankfully, Tylor Megill has come up and been a nice surprise. However, after that any real Mets pitching prospect is at least a few years away. The Mets AAA team in Syracuse is dead last in the league in pitching, sporting a whopping 6.18 ERA. ERA is meaningless some say? The Syracuse Mets are last in wins as well. How about AA Binghamton? Arms are on the way, right? Well, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies are second to last in the league in pitching.

With the Braves now 4 games behind the Mets and the Phillies 3, game two took on crucial importance. The organization believes that starting pitching help is on the way in a few days, via trades, Carlos Carasco, etc. but that didn't help last night. New York's bullpen was called upon to pitch 7 innings and win...and win they did.

Sunday the New York Mets were trailing the Toronto Blue Jays, in the rubber match of the three game series, 3-1 in the 6th. The Jays had just taking the lead in the top of the inning. With Michael Conforto on first and one out, up to the plate stepped the Amazin's budding star, a mammoth of man. That's why the fans affectionately call him the Polar Bear, Pete Alonso.

It's funny how some Yankee fans despise the Mets and vice versa. However, when the Mets can help the Yankees by grounding the Jays or the Bombers can assist the Amazin's by dusting the Phils, well then we are all New Yorkers and let's help each other! Right? Right!

Wheeling and dealing, Steve Cohen and Company got their man. Well, a man, but an important one at that.
