UAlbany Women’s Basketball Picked First In America East Preseason Poll, Men Picked Fourth, Three Great Danes Named To All-Conference Teams [VIDEO]

Yesterday was America East media day, a day in which the league's annual preseason coaches polls and preseason all-conference teams are announced. The event took place at SEFCU Arena, on the campus of the University at Albany, the site of this year's 2013 America East Basketball Championships, which wasn't the only good news for the Great Danes as their women's basketball team was picked to finish atop the conference and three Great Danes were selected to their all-conference teams.

UAlbany Women’s Hoops Coach Earns New Contract

University at Albany Vice President and Director of Athletics Lee McElroy has announced a two-year contract extension for head women's basketball coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson. With the extension in place, Abrahamson-Henderson will remain at the helm of the Great Dane program through the 2016-17 season.

Albany University announced the hiring of a new assistant coach to sit along side head coach Will Brown, and added another member to the staff as well.

Jon Iati, a former player with UA comes back to the school to coach under Brown, leaving a similar perch with Quinnipiac university
