Former ValleyCats Win AAA Title

Last night, the Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Columbus Clippers to capture the AAA "true" championship.

The Grizzlies, the AAA affiliate of the Astros, won the PCL Championship before defeating the Clippers (Indians), who won the International League championship.

With the Grizzlies being an Astros affiliate, that means that several players who have roots with the Tri-City ValleyCats were a part of the roster.

Tony Kemp (ValleyCats '13) hit leadoff for Fresno, going 1-5. He'll be up with the Astros soon enough. He's listed as the Astros No. 11 prospect by MILBpipeline.

Alex Presley hit second for Fresno. He spent a few games in Tri-City last year on a major league rehab assignment.

Tyler White, the No. 3 hitter was a member of the 'Cats in '13 as well. Joe Sclafani played 70 games in Troy in 2012. He pinch-hit last night.

Andrew Aplin hit seventh and he spent part of 2012 with the 'Cats as well. Tyler Heinemen caught the game and has also played for Tri-City.
