The New York Jets (0-2) and New York Giants (1-1) met for their annual preseason game on Saturday night at MetLife Stadium in what was officially a Jets home game. The Giants came out on top 26-3.

The Jets defense did play well only allowing 90 yards of offense to the Giants first team, their offense however just could not get anything doing, only converting 1 out of 13 third downs, the offensive line allowed eight sacks and both Jet quarterbacks were under constant pressure from the Giant pass rush.

The Giants got on the board in their second drive via a Lawrence Tynes 35 yard field goal after a 12 play, 63 yard drive that was stalled when Eli Manning could not connect with Ramses Barden or Victor Cruz to advance the chains. Tynes would connect on field goals in the second, third and fourth quarters. 30, 40 and 45 yarders respectively.

Midway through the second quarter Mark Sanchez and the Jets were finally able to get a drive going and got the ball down to the Giants 24 yard line. On 3rd and 10 Mark Sanchez lined up in a shotgun formation and threw a short pass to the right intended for Patrick Turner. Before Turner could grab the pass, Giants third round pick rookie safety Jayron Hosely picked off the pass and with no one in front of him took it to the house for a 77 yard interception return.

Mark Sanchez went 9 for 11 for 59 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. Tim Tebow went 5 of 14 for 69 yards; he only had two carries for five yards. The Jets field goal came in the third quarter when Tebow drove the Jets down the field in a 14 play 68 yard drive down to the Giant 12 yard line before being stopped by the Giant D. Shonn Greene led Jets rushing attack with 11 carries for 36 yards.

The only offensive touchdown of the game came in the fourth quarter when Giants third string quarterback Ryan Perrilloux hooked up on a 14 yard touchdown pass with Joe Martinek, a full back out of Rutgers.

Eli Manning playing the entire first half went 7 of 14 for 62 yards but was intercepted early in the second quarter by Jets safety Laron Landry on a pass intended for Ruben Randle. Manning hooked up with Victor Cruz 5 times for 51 yards. First round pick David Wilson led Giant rushers with 8 carries for 26 yards.

The Jets will next play Sunday at the Panthers. The Giants are home against the Bears on Friday.
