Hoffman Earning Serious Look at Call-Up

I thought Jeff Hoffman would be up in Colorado at some point this season. I really thought he would last until June in AAA, but now? I'm not so sure.

Rockies blog sites are calling for the Shaker High School graduate to be brought up after another sterling performance this weekend:

He got a no decision in a 7-inning gem for Albuquerque on Sunday. He gave up just three hits and no runs to go along with five strikeouts.

I think Hoffman will be up this month, honestly. The Rockies are 13th in the National League in ERA at 5.28. They might as well see what the kid has at the Major League level. Furthermore, lefty Jorge De La Rosa just hit the disabled list.

The Rockies are 12-13 and hovering within contention in a mediocre NL West thus far and perhaps the call-up of the prospect could help invigorate the organization again.
