Last night, Shaker High School graduate and 2014 No. 9 overall draft pick Jeff Hoffman made his professional debut.

His debut was delayed a year due to his undergoing Tommy John surgery right before the draft.

Hoffman worked five innings for the High-A Blue Jays (Dunedin, Fla.) against the Tampa Yankees. He was throwing a full compliment of pitches, including a fastball that was hitting 98 MPH consistently.

He also featured a changeup that was 90 MPH. The four runs he allowed all came in the second inning, with one mistake changeup being hit for a home run.

Today, we were joined by Dunedin Blue Jays broadcaster Marshall Kelner, who spoke about how Hoffman looked, what the atmosphere in the ballpark was like, and what Hoffman's path this season may look like.

Furthermore, Capital Region fans have another reason to look toward Dunedin, as 2006 Shenendehowa graduate Murphy Smith will get the ball tonight. He's 2-2 on the season, and we asked Kelner how the right-hander has looked as well.
