Kentucky’s Karl Anthony Towns has been drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Towns now  joins an elite group as the No.1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.  Many believe it was a two way race between Towns and Jahlil Oakfor . Towns was a key piece during his lone year at Kentucky starting in Coach Calipari’s platoon system.

The Timberwolves continue to add No.1 overall picks to their team, and now are the first team in NBA history to have three No.1 picks in Towns, Andrew Wiggins (2014), and bust Anthony Bennet (2013). Wiggins and Towns will look to be one of the more dynamic duos in the league, and at such young ages the sky is the limit for these two future all-stars.

Towns rise began in highscool at St. Joseph High School, in NJ, when ESPN, which had ranked him as the top prospect in the 2015 recruiting class listed him as third-ranked in its 2014 class. On January 6, 2013 Towns recorded a quadruple double with 16 points, 17 rebounds, 11 blocks and 11 assists, then on January 5, 2014 he recorded another with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 12 blocks and 10 assists. Towns graduated from high school with a 3.96 GPA , and was named the 2014 Gatorade Player of the Year.
