Last year's Rookie of the Year and Albany Empire breakout star, Malachi Jones is returning to the Capital Region! Jones was really starting to hit his stride with the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football League before the AAF was forced to fold. There has been speculation he might return to help the Empire with their #UnfinishedBusiness and now we know he will be back as early as this week.

The Empire confirmed Jones' return via a press release:

ALBANY, NY– The Albany Empire announce that the 2018 Arena Football League Wide Receiver of the Year, Malachi Jones, has been assigned to the team.  Jones spent his debut season with the Empire and also won Rookie of the Year and was named First Team All-Arena.

“I couldn’t be more excited to head back to the Capital Region to play for the Empire again,” said Jones.  “Special thanks to Coach Keefe, the coaching staff, and the Empire organization for giving me another opportunity to do what I love.  I can’t wait to get started and help this team pursue a championship!”

...

“Having Malachi back in an Empire uniform is huge for the entire organization and the Capital Region Community,” said Rob Keefe, Head Coach of the Albany Empire.  “On the field, we expect Malachi to pick up where he left off without skipping a beat. Off the field, he will continue to be extremely active in the community. He is humble, but hungry, and is a key piece to helping us settle unfinished business this season and bring home a championship.”
