In an offseason that will see them lose Yoenis Cespedes and Daniel Murphy in all likelihood, the Mets have gone to the Winter Meetings with one clear goal: To sign Ben Zobrist.

The Winter Meetings kicked off yesterday and will really heat up today. Zobrist is said to be hopeful in having a decision by the end of the week.

The Giants, Nationals, and Braves have all met with the super utilityman. The Giants would be a great fit, as they have a history of winning and are always contenders. However, with the upstart Diamondbacks and the Dodgers also figuring into the mix out West, winning could be a more uphill battle.

The Braves are not in a position to win, so that probably knocks them out, as Zobrist has a strong desire to play for a winner.

The Nationals have all the talent on paper, but can they top what the Mets have to offer?  A World Series team with the best pitching in the NL?

We will find out this week.
