We had mentioned earlier that the NBA's Board of Governors was voting on rule changes, three of which involved the expanded use of instant replay. Those three provisions were approved late Thursday night.

Now, NBA referees will have the ability to review all potentially flagrant fouls, as well as charging/blocking fouls and goaltending calls late in games. I hope Bud Selig is furiously scribbling notes as we speak.

Also approved by the Board of Governors was the introduction of advertising patches on NBA jerseys in the near future, hoping to see similar revenue to what soccer clubs reap for doing the same. Commissioner David Stern estimates that these patches would be introduced in the 2013-2014 season due to the time it would take to sell the ad space and manufacture the uniforms.
