New Coach Named For Siena’s Womans Hoops
The Siena Saints woman’s basketball team will undergo major changes for next year. After 22 years at the helm, Gina Castelli left the school, and after a long search that took about a month, a replacement has been found.
Ali Jacques has left her top position at Northwestern University and has agreed to become the replacement For Castelli.
Castelli was named top coach in the MAAC 5 times in her tenure, but led the female Saints to the NCAA’s only once, in 2001. 7 times in her long tenure at Siena Castellui led the Saints to 7 regular season titles. Her overall record is 336-296. Her conference record is a gaudy 225-146.
This past season the lady Saints finished just 12-17 and got bombed in the MAAC tourney in round 1 by Fairfield.
