They always say if you go to a baseball game, you always have the opportunity to see something that you've never seen before.

Well that was a case on Thursday night in San Diego. I was watching the beginning of the Padres/Nationals game and I instantly saw the grounds crew come out.

Grounds crew? Rain? In San Diego?

Dick Enberg, Padres broadcaster, said it was only the 6th time there had been a rain delay since Petco Park opened in 2004.

I love the great weather in San Diego. I've been to Petco. It's immaculate. But I tell you what, I'll take a few more rain delays if I get to see groundskeepers who act like this.

You go, Padres groundskeeper. When the game finally did resume, the Padres were all over Nationals starter Doug Fister. The Friars won 8-3 and are now 19-17 on the year.

The Nationals are also 19-17 on the season.
