I can't deny I am enjoying writing this piece. I am dispensing the "facts" for the "fan" in me. Been waiting almost a full year for this and revenge feels sweet. The NY Rangers defeat the NJ Devils at sold out Madison Square Garden Sunday afternoon and knocking the Devils out of a possible playoff spot and man it feels sweet.

Watching Adam Henrique score the game winning goal in overtime in last years eastern conference finals will always stick in my craw. Tonight that craw feels a lot better as the Rangers blitz the Devils 4-1. The Devils now play out the string. The Rangers are closer to locking up a playoff slot.

The captain Ryan Callahan scored 34 seconds seconds into the game. Callahan grabbed a puck that came from behind the net and wrapped a goal past a sleeping Martin Brodeur and the Rangers were off to victory. Derek Stepan made it 2-0 before the period ended.

A 2nd period tally by Taylor Pyatt made it 3-0 and Callahan scored again in the 3rd period making it 4-0. New Jersey scored with 6:30 remaining to bust up  Henrik Lundqvist's shutout bid. No matter the Rangers and their fans came for a win and a knockout. the fans at MSG serenaded the Devils with " Seasons Over   Season's Over " taunts in the games final 5 minutes. For this Rangers fan and Devils hater it was music to my ears.

The Devils and their few fans can now think all off season about their recent 10 game losing skid. The Devils lost every game they played between March 25th and April 18th. The fact that it is the Rangers who got to drive the last nail into their playoff hopes brings a huge smile to my face :)

The Rangers now have 3 games left, all against non playoff teams in Florida, Carolina, and New Jersey again to close out the regular season. After beating New Jersey ( gosh that sounds so good) they have a 3 point lead on 9th place Winnipeg. The Jets are also battling for the  Southeast division title with Washington. The 7th place Ottawa Senators are tied in points with the Rangers but have a game in hand. The 6th place NY Islanders lead the Rangers by 1 point and have played the same 45 games.

Sorry to pile on Devil fans but the Ranger fan in me must " Seasons Over."
