Rory McIlroy Isn’t The Next Tiger Woods

Rory McIlroy won the 2011 US Open in impressive fashion, but he's no Tiger Woods.

It's one thing to say that Rory McIlroy could be the next superstar in golf.  It's another thing to suggest that Rory McIlroy could be the next Tiger Woods.  To equal or even come close to Tiger's accomplishments as a golfer is a ridiculously tough task.  Even assuming Rory is capable of doing that, which is a huge assumption, it doesn't mean that McIlroy would be as compelling as Tiger Woods.  It's asking a ton for a non-American like McIlroy, who is from Northern Ireland, to have the widespread appeal that an American like Tiger Woods has had in this country.  Simply put, it ain't happenin'.
