Shaker High School graduate and East Carolina University standout Jeff Hoffman struck out 16 last night in the Pirates 1-0 win over Middle Tennessee State.

Hoffman improves his record to 3-3 with the eight-inning, three-hit performance. He struck out the side in both the second and fourth innings.

Hoffman, a preseason NCAA All-America selection by Baseball America (1st), Perfect Game (1st), and Collegiate Baseball (3rd), was rated as the number two draft prospect for this year by both Baseball America and Perfect Game.

This performance will only help his draft stock rise as we are now less than two months away from the draft.

In 67.1 innings this season, Hoffman has 72 strikeouts.

It’s a good season for Shaker alumni, as Tom Kahnle (Shaker ’07) made the Colorado Rockies out of spring training.

He is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 9.1 innings of relief.
