Siena’s Taylor Akana Again Named MAAC Women’s Volleyball Player Of The Week

For the second time this year Siena College Junior Volleyballer Taylor Akana was named MAAC player of the week.

Akana helped the Saints secure a MAAC tournament berth with a huge set of games against Manhattan and Saint Peter's this past weekend. Siena swept both games and are now onto the conference tourney after one more match to close out the regular season.

Akana, a junior from Hawaii, was a monster in the key win over Manhattan recording 17 kills and 16 digs leading the saints to a blowout 25-12 win in the first set over the Jaspers. The Saints went on to win three sets to nothing.

In the victory over St Peters Akana sat out most of the St. Peter's match but managed in limited time 11 kills. The Saints also swept the Peacocks 3-0. Akana finished up the match and was her usual stellar self, leading the Saints to a thrilling 25-22 win in the last set to seal the match and give Siena a weekend sweep.

Siena has a "quiet" weekend ahead with just one match. They travel to Poughkeepsie for a game with Marist College.
