Noah Syndergaard was electric for 5.2 innings and Daniel Murphy's postseason heroics continued on Sunday night as the Mets took a 2-0 lead on the Cubs in the National League Championship Series.

Syndergaard repeatedly threw pitches of more than 95 miles per hour on the night, and he allowed just three hits and one run. He struck out nine Cubs on the night.

It helped he got some early run support...

Going up against Jake Arrieta, the frontrunner for the NL Cy Young Award, the Mets scored three in the first inning.

Curtis Granderson singled to open the game and then David Wright doubled him home for a 1-0 lead. And then came Daniel Murphy:

Murphy, who has homered off Clayton Kershaw (2x), Zack Greinke, and Jon Lester already this playoffs, added Arrieta to his list to make it 3-0 Mets.

The Mets got a fourth run on an infield single from Yoenis Cespedes in the third inning to make it 4-0.

A Kris Bryant double in the sixth was the Cubs' only run.
